UK and EU to hold talks with Iran as Trump sets two-week window over Middle East conflict

 

As part of efforts to resolve the Israel-Iran conflict, the foreign ministers of the UK, France, and Germany will meet today in Geneva with their Iranian counterparts. It comes after the White House says Donald Trump will decide in the next two weeks whether the US will join Israeli strikes on Iran

 Trump has delayed making a decision as he thinks there's a "substantial chance" of talks, according to his press secretary - our chief North America correspondent says this opens the window to diplomacy

 The Israeli military says it has attacked dozens of military sites in Iran overnight, while Iran also launched missiles towards Israel

 The emergency services reported five injuries in Beersheba, southern Israel, where fires were burning near Microsoft's offices. Iran has not reported casualties today

  • The president said he will make a decision on whether to get involved in Israel's war against Iran in the next two weeks.

  • Trump has approved plans to attack Iran but has not decided whether to go through with them or not, sources have told the BBC's US partner CBS news
  • He is reportedly weighing an attack on Iran's underground uranium enrichment facility at Fordo, according to CBS. Only the US is considered to have a bomb that might be large enough to destroy the underground complex
