CBK extends RTGS's hours of operation.

Beginning on July 1st of this year, the Kenya Electronic Payment and Settlement System (KEPSS) will have extended hours of operation thanks to the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). This system is used to process large and urgent money transfers between banks in real time.  It will now operate from 7am to 7pm on weekdays, from the current 8:30am to 4:30pm schedule.

According to CBK, the change will support the country's move toward a 24/7 digital economy by making it easier for banks, businesses, and government agencies to make time-sensitive, high-value payments. also review Standard Chartered targets Africa’s rich in wealth creation

Kenya marks a decade of Schneider Electric operations. The longer operating hours are expected to improve cash flow, reduce end-of-day transaction risks, and expand access to financial services.

Kenya now follows international best practices for modernizing payment systems thanks to this move.
